Body Confident Swimwear

With warm weather, blue skies and holidays looming we turn our attention to swimwear.

If you are thinking of treating yourself to some new swimwear here’s my guide. It’s worth paying a little bit more for good quality swimwear with a good cut, fabric and hidden support, especially if you have a fuller bust. Comfort is essential to being body confident.

Ranges such as Fantasie, Figleaves have a range of options available to suit all body shapes: bandeau bikini, full cup, mid rise and high rise bikini briefs, tankini tops and swimsuits. All designed to give you confidence for poolside, beach or your local lido.

Neat and Full Hour Glass

If you are fuller busted it is worth looking at swimwear designed for you. This will give extra support in the cup, straps and clasps. The last thing you want is a malfunction or thin straps that cut into your skin.

Good brands are: Bravissimo, Figleaves, Fantasie.

A bikini highlights the waist of an hourglass perfectly.

Pear shape or triangle

As a rule you will be smaller on your top half and broader around your bottom/thighs and hip area compared to your shoulders.

With the difference in size of your top and bottom a bikini or tankini may work better for you. Go for detail in the top half to draw the attention to your bust area and top half.

Top Tip: Choose darker colours on the lower half of swimsuit or bikini bottoms and lots of interest in the top half.

If you tend to carry weight around your middle the apple is your bodyshape guide. Draw the attention upwards and disguise the tummy area with swirly patterns or ruching detail.

V-necks with wide shoulder straps work well for you.

Good Brands: Bravissimo, Ample Bossom, Fantasie, Evans

You have an angular, straight body line with hips and shoulders in alignment.

To add some curves to your angular body shape use ties and bows on bikini bottoms, tops and frill detail on the straps or bottoms.

Look for chevron detail to give you the illusion or a waist or side block colour panels.

Inverted Triangle

Your shoulders are broader than your hips and you have a neat bust to your body shape.

Halter neck styles are a great shape for you. Geometric patterns and stripes work well for you. You can wear a tankini with perhaps stripes on the bottom half and a plain on the top to balance out your shape.
